This is the view out the front window of our home in Zion. Ouch! Everything around here was named by Mormon settlers, so the mountains are called things like the Altar of Sacrifice and the Great White Throne, a grouping of three is called the Three Patriarchs - Abraham, Jacob and Isaac. It's kinda cool.
Thanks everybody for leaving your comments. I read them out to Rhonda and Jon every morning. Mary Helen is the current record holder, but there is still time for someone else to make a late charge! C'mon bloggers!
We arrived in Zion Friday night after a wonderful drive through Utah, including a visit to Bryce Canyon. I posted some photos yesterday. Unfortunately I will not be uploading any pictures this morning. My memory card went south. I will be able to recover the over 600 pictures that Shutterbug took on the trails of Zion, but that will have to wait until I get home.
Suffice to say that Zion is this incredible canyon with thousand foot red rock walls, waterfalls and a rushing river. We saw a mountain goat! Rhonda's Indian name is now Deer Spotter. If you're keeping score at home, we have now seen a mountain sheep, two mountain goats, numerous elk, several mule deer, as well as that eagle that was actually a trail sign.
