Byron Bay is a massive surfer town and once Christmas was over, surfing was the next thing on my list, as Noosa had been a bit of a let down and Brisbane lack of beach would of made it hard for even the most committed of surfers! but due to cyclones of shore the waves were stupidly big! crazy in fact! no where was hireing out boards which was a good thing because i would of killed myself just trying to get out! myself and Bart had just gone in for a swim and the current was so strong at one point we couldn't get out, and it was only knee high! how ever, with my new years eve surf campspecial (4 days of surfing) looming it wasn't the end of the world! but the big waves had brought out the best of the surfers and it was really good to watch the pro's in action! So with no waves, or no waves i could surf! it did leave more time to catch up with friends! and to explore the town! Byron is famous for its Light house and the light house walk so on my last day i spent it there and now i can say i'vebeen to the most easterly part of Australia! as well as the southern most point of south east Asia!! The Byron i saw was a very different one to the normal one! this one was very busy full people here for Christmas and new year! normally it would be a very laid back and chilled out surfer town! and a haven for the famous like John Travolta and Madonna!
