We're back on the road and heading to Hamner Springs................after a few hours of driving we arrived at the destination known for its natural hot spring pools. Sooooo after a quick gander around the town we grabbed our bathers and headed for an evening dip at the pools. There were a number of pools ranging from temperatures between 20 and 30 degrees and surrounded in lovely grounds of palm trees, rocks and little rivers between the pools. They were sooooo nice….really relaxing and crazy to be in an outdoor pool at dusk and see the steam rise off the pools as the outside air temperature dropped. So of course we were freezing getting out of the pools but soon warmed up in our little camper and tucked ourselves in for the night at a peaceful nature reserve along with 2 other campers from Germany. The next morning we awoke to a gorgeous day so decided to go for a run around the reserve and see if we could discover anything! But the funny thing is……Lucy only managed to find herself lost and panicked herself even more when the road she was running onto had a huge sign that read……… "WARNING this is NOT a public road Enter Hamner Forest IF YOU DARE!!"Frightened she ran back around in full circle only find Donzy waiting at the camper as Lucy had forgotten to leave her the key! But all was well in the end and we headed up country to Kiakora.Kiakora's a nice little seaside town that we both really liked, it's famous for Whale watching and the seal colony. So we were a little daring today and thought we'd do the trick that most other campervan travelers do and use the facilities of a backpackers!!!! So we sussed out the backpackers and casually strolled in straight up to the showers….Yes we're in!!!!So pleased with ourselves we headed out and into the internet café across the road to check mail and update our blog. Well hey you know us............ we had to take it one step further and stroll back into the backpackersto warm up and watch there sky T.V, then we noticed that they give free veg soup every evening at 6pm…and guess what the time was….6PM! So we decided to push our luck and get some of the free soup, within 5minutes of eating it our conscience got the better of us and we finished quickly and scarpered! Tut…tut!
The next morning we decided to go and check out the seal colony as we have yet to see any seals so we took a stroll along the beachfront and over to the seal colony. We got to see some seals up close just lazing and chilling on the rocks from a day at sea, they are soooo cute they have lovely little faces that look at you with sad, puppy eyes and they move around very frumpy. We carried on trekking up a trial that took us over the hill and into a gorgeous bay that was small, untouched and in the shape of a love heart so we decided to name it "LoveHeartBay! On our way back down we also took a few pictures of the cows in a nearby field …the animals in this country are the healthiest we've seen and look so nice! On route back into the town we passed a roadside BBQ of fresh fish sooo we couldn't resist as we were starving after our long walk so we had to try Kiakora's famous Crayfish! So we ordered a Crayfish fritter and the fish of the day which was Terykhi, well they came out looking stunning and we tried each of the fishes and they were really really good! Later that evening we really fancied some ice-cream but the strange thing iseverything shuts really early in Kiakora and nowhere was open at 8pm, sooooooo we left on a mission for ice-cream! We found some further up the road at a garage and we sat eating our ice-cream in the camper and just decided to hit the road and keep on driving. Crazy how you're able to just up and leave like that as everything we got is in our camper so we drove until we were at our next stop about 2hours north!
