From Fundy, I stopped only once (for snacks, gas and a toilet) and remembered to call Beth for directions about 5 minutes before my exit. She steered me in down a pretty river road pointing out local attractions such as the Country Pumpkin along the way. As soon as I arrived I was, of course, greeted by happy shouts and warm hugs from both her and her adorable 3-year-old son, Jude. I hadn't seen Jude since he was a baby he had become a terrific, and very funny young boy. I eagerly followed him on a tour of their home and even got to see how he sleeps! (in his bed, with his head on his pillow and his eyes closed - in case anyone is wondering).
We all walked up to the park and ran off some energy then got home just before Joe arrived from work (hi Joe - big hugs!). We sorted out some minor keys and wine glass issues (let's call them some pre-wedding 'I've got too much on my mind' jitters). Also please note that keys were not IN the glass - it was not 'that' type of wedding! Beth made us an incredible dinner; which reminds me I need to get that recipe for Watermelon gazpacho. When Jude crashed, Joe thoughtfully stayed home with him so that Beth and I could go visit some of their friends. The Fredericton crew definitely lived up to the rumours of Maritime hospitality. I instantly felt like a welcomed member of their close-knit group. I got a tour of the future 'wedding site' (aka Jim and Carey's beautiful backyard) and we dove right into pre-wedding conversation. As Beth starting rhyming off things to do, I opened my notes app on my phone and started a simple list. And all of a sudden Toronto entered the room and messed with the laid back East Coast lifestyle. One list turned into about 5 lists; ranging from Things to Do (today, tomorrow and Saturday) to Wedding Décor. After 6 days of living like a free spirit I think I was secretly excited by the chance to unleash my inner control freak.
The next day was a blur of wedding preparations and excitement. Beth and I started with girl time at the spa getting manis and pedis (yes, this was on a list!). Later, at the wedding rehearsal I met more friends and family. I was feeling the East Coast love pretty hard and loving the East Coast home-cooking! A highlight of Friday was definitely the best homemade seafood chowder I've ever had!!! (and yes, maybe the first I've had too - but holy macaroni - it was sooo good!!) Thanks Deanna!! Beth, Shannon and I had a nice girls night with wine on Beth's porch and then off to sleep dreaming of wedding bells….
WEDDING DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well this is more Beth and Joe's story than mine but it was the most special wedding I've ever witnessed. I was so incredibly honoured to be a part of it and so incredibly happy I could be there. Congrats Beth, Joe and Jude - what a wonderful family you are!

B Oh Erica..... This was so great to read! And funny!! I love "my Toronto" . Thank you so much for being here. We appreciate all you did and all you are. And you casually neglected to mention that you recited the most beautiful poem at the wedding. It was a special time I will cherish always. Love you xx
