I love walking in Paris! I walked about 20 miles today! I walked to school in the morning light, took an afternoon strole with a friend, explored a new park as the sun began to set, and then walked back home in the dark:) The city is so beautiful and so full of like and variety. I love walking in Paris! The only real down side is that my shoes aren't really good and it rained some last night so my feet are not only tired, they are wet and sore:( But it doesn't stop me from walking! My favorite time to walk is after dark when the magic of Paris is in full bloom. The intricate old buildings are showcased in light and you can see more beautiful details than you do in the daytime. All the landmark treasures of Paris glow and sparkle with light and make it almost easier to find your way through the city in the dark than in the light of day:) As I was walking through the Tuileries Gardens I stopped next to the big fountain to marinate in the moment. I wanted to absorb as much of the flavor of this fabulous French city as I could. From where I stood I could see so many great sites bursting out of hte darkness, shinning in their spotlights and reminding me why I love this place. I saw the Eiffel Tower sparkling at 7(it does that every hour:), I saw the Pont Nuef aglow above the Sienne, the French flag on the Obelisk was proudly lit and blowing in the wind, and the Arc de Triumph was white with light at the end of a long straight road filled with cars, but in Paris even the traffic is magical - the headlights and tailights formed a train of sparkling red and gold adding to the glow of the city lights. The Concord tower and fountains were lit up right in from of me and to my back the pyramids of the Louvre were radiating beautiful pure light into the night. I just stode in one place and I could see all this! How can I not love Pairs? How much I will miss it when I am gone. But at least I'll do the missing in Rome, that can't be too bad:)
