The world is my school. Today my classroom was, on Hong Kong Island, checking out my surroundings.
I slept in the latest, of course. Then I finally got up and we head out to the grocery store. Reception said that it was in a brown building right across the street. So we went to the brown building and saw on the directory that it said the market was on the 3rd floor. That's where we went. Once we got there we saw a market but it was tiny as Mom says, "all it sells is weird green things!" She was scared that, that was the best we could find. Feeling discouraged a bit at how hard it was going to be to get food we went back and met a nice lady who said it was in the brown building but there were two elevators and we took the wrong one. So we went around to the other side and entered that way. This time it was on two floors. Here's what is said on the wall:

We caught the next elevator up and my Mom was so excited to see that there was a real grocery store. We spend around an hour in there and my favorite part was the escalator that they had inside the store because it was 2 floors. This was my favorite because there was an escalator for people and one for the carts. I was rolling the cart so what I did when I came up to the escalators I pushed the cart into the cart one and got on the people one. The cart one was very helpful because you would leave it at the bottom and there were tons of little black pegs sticking out. You know when you are at Waitrose or Publics exc. the carts are made out of wire with square holes everywhere, well that's where the pegs go, and to make sure that nothing falls out when it goes on, there are two bocks on each side that keep the cart level. We took a video of this if you want to watch it. It was hilarious. Once you get to the end of the escalator you don't have to worry about your cart because you would get up there before it and if you hold onto the front, simply pull it out.
We spent pretty much the rest of the day in town and walking down the stairs next to the giant escalator, because it only went up. We started thinking that in the morning it went down then switched to going up when everyone's work was done. We thought this because there was a sign above the escalator with a green arrow on one side, and a red cross on the other. The idea that they could switch these made us think that the escalator had a schedule. Rushing, rushing, rushing, it was so busy once we got to the bottom of the escalator. Here is where we found the MTR so we could get an Octopus Card. An Octopus Card is for busses, trains and many other sources of transportation. Once we did that we had a 5-minute walk to the IFC Mall. We ate dinner here at a place called:
RED
I got a margarita pizza and water. It was very good. I am sick right now so I started getting tired, so we got to use our Octopus Cards for the first time! It was really hard finding the bus going to Macdonnell Road. Bus 1A was ours. After ages of struggling to find it we finally got there. Then we had to wait for what seemed like 2 hours but was only about 15-minutes. We saw bus 2, 1, another 2, and one more 1, then, BAM 1A showed up. The Octopus Cards are so cool. They work like this: there is a machine near the door in the bus. On that machine there was a paper Octopus Card stuck down and that is where you placed your own Octopus Card.
Then with no going back, we made it! I did all of the extras that you do before you go to bed then plunked myself on my bed.
