Hi All,
We´ve been in the back and beyond otherwise known as The Pantanal for last 4 days, and what an experience we had!
We went on a 3 day tour into Brazil´s wetlands to go wildlife watching, in hope to see giant anteaters and armadillo´s.
We arrived there by pick up and on arrival it was obvious that we were going to be mosquito food!
We were eaten alive from start to end. We did intially stay in a camp site next to a cayman and pirhana infested river, sleeping in hammocks....that lasted 1 night before we both couldn´t hack it any more ( I think its fair to say that it was me more than Chris!). The mosquito´s were everywhere it was like water torture!´
Once we got to the safety of a building with doors and windows, things improved.
We had a great few days, we went horse riding, hiking, a jeep safari, a boat trip and pirhana fishing! Chris caught a huge fish, mine was tiny and had to be used as bait!
We saw what we wanted to see, plus loads of birds, coppabarra (massive rodent things that look likes a dog/beaver).
We were sad to leave in the end, but since we had over 100 bites between us and then some, we had too! (photo´s will follow but the internet connection is too slow here to download).
So we are now in santa cruz Bolivia after a bone shaking 17hour bus journey on a vehicle fit for the scrappers! But we made it alive.
We love it here already, just had a 4 course meal for 2 pounds each! We plan to stay here a couple of days then head south, but still not exactly where yet.
Will keep you posted!
