Day 2
Hello again, I wasn't gonna write till tomorrow but I felt abit bad cos the other blog was abit vague. Plus it's raining outside (they usually have at least one thunder storm a day, generally in the afternoon but i slept through the last one). Well yesterday I finally got my bed, (my hostel by the way is called Sleepy Sams and its in the Arab Quarter) however my bed wasn't exactly how I expected. Instead of being in a dorm of 4, I was put in the corner of a corridor with just a matress and a lamp with a wooden fence as a door! That sounds alot worse than it is though. It's quite nice and it has English plugs (today I caught a rather large man sitting on my bed using them grrr, the words 'get out' came to my mind but luckily the hostel staff was already there telling him off!) But after 6 hours of waiting I was more than abit tired and so feel asleep.
Woke up in a more adventurous mood so decided to go find an atm machine and food. Amazingly I found this really good market called Bugis Junction (Bugis being the nearest MRT/tube station). It was alot like Camden but it was full of ultra cool local kids and had some really good clothes on sale, if I wasn't on a budget then I might of bought more but settled for a hat. I went to a food market but don't have the confidence to eat in them by myself yet so went to a restaurant which was really nice (felt like a bit of a t*** though cos the waitress came along and asked if I needed a fork lol I must of looked like a right retard).
Woke up today a little later than expected but went downstairs for breakfast (they have a cafe downstairs and bf is free if your staying here). Oh and they insist of putting bananas on my cornflakes! wtf! Sugar makes it taste nice though so its ok. Starting talking to these two Canadian guys (Bruce and Braidy) and a Pakistani (Khan, who co-incidently likes to beat box), they were going to same place as me Sentosa Island (the most southern point in Asia). Which was actually really fun! I went on this massive cable car over the harbour and you can see all around! (see pics) Anyway its quite touristy but I didn't mind that too much, so I went on this Luge thing first and then to Underwater World. To be honest I didn't like it too much because the sting rays keep trying to jump out of their ponds so I don't think they really liked it. But the walk through aquarium was good, although nearly tripped over on the rotating floor! Oh and there was this crazy woman with a massive camera literally running everywhere like a madman trying to get pictures, bending herself in all sorts of positions just to get a perfect shot of a crab!, infact she was abit more entertaining to watch. Later on I got over my fear of snakes and held one! (see pics) Oh and I saw a pink dolphin show. They have man made beaches on the Island which were really inviting to look at, and the sand was boiling hot, however I forgot my towel and shorts so I'm going to go again on Sunday. After Sensoto I went to go to Mt Faber, however when I got there there was a massive queue to get back down on the cable cars and the views were a bit s***, so I wasted about an hour and a half there! Anyway got back to the hostel and had a shower and now I'm here talking to you.
The thing I'm disliking at the moment is having to pay every time you want a drink or food, I know it sounds stupid but it's wasn't something I thought of, even though I budgeted for it! But I'm used to the weather now, even if it's abit difficult to sleep in.
Anway speak to you all soon
