Hello again!
Sorry I haven't written in a while I have been really busy and so much has happened! As for pictures, they are gonna take ages to upload so I will do them when I have a free day or something. Anyway I left off on Friday!
Friday evening I bumped into these two Canadians I had made friends with Bruce and Brady at breakfast. They invited me out to a club and to be honest I was dying to go out so happily agreed. Two other guys came along, Khan from Pakistan and Wayne from Australia. So we had a few beers before we left and then we all got in a taxi to a place called St James, I think it was by the harbour but can't be sure (I'm sure you can guess why!) So we went to this club called Powerhouse which was amazing! Like one of the best clubs I have been to. They had really good music and like podiums to dance on! At first I thought it was only for professionals, but like random people were just going up dancing! So firstly Bruce goes up as a joke, but then out of no where Khan (who has NEVER been to a club before in his life!!!) just jumps up and starts doing the craziest dancing I have ever seen and starts trying to be all sexy and stuff, it was possibly the most hilarious thing in the world! But loads of people were like clapping him hahaha! After a few more beers I went up to but for some reason or another I decided I was so good I would dance for the whole club for like an hour! Oh dear! But it was fine, nobody was offended and we got back at like 3.30, at which point I tried to get on the computer and write a blog, but instead I fell over and ended up like hitting this big Australian guy who was sleeping on the sofa in the face! hahaha he was ok though, i saw him the next morning and apologised, but he said some really weird Australian slang at me, but he was smiling so I guess he found it funny...i guess???
The next day I spent pretty much all my time with this girl called Jay, 22, from Norwich. I had met her the previous night before when I was on the computer. Anyway we went to Little India and went to this fish market and there was literally hundreds of stalls with these guys thrashing fish with very big knifes in the head. It smelt but it was fun. Then we met her friend who she met in Malaysia called Lauren. She's American but studying in Singapore. We went and saw the Merllion statue (typically swamped by chinese coach tour people, they are everywhere). We took some funny photos then headed off to Raffles for a Singapore sling! To be honest I found the drink was abit s*** and overpriced and the hotel didn't look as grand nor impressive as I would of thought. But ast least I can say I have done it. Later that evening we went out clubbing in Clarke Quay, which is like the Soho of Singapore. It mostly undercover and has these huge penis shaped air conditioning vents! First we went to Ministry of Sound which was amazing! It had 5 different rooms, of which I went to 4 (Dance, hip-hop, lounge and retro) The retro bar was possible the coolest place in the world. It had a multicoloured, flashing dance floor with those egg chairs which hang from the ceiling. Oh and they played the best music from Soul, RnB, Motown and all the hits inbetween. After that we went to this bar called Clinic. It has a hospital theme, so instead of chairs they had wheelchairs and hospital beds. And the lights were like Operating theatre lights! Got some very funny photos (if not slightly offensive). Oh and you know that crazy woman with the camera, well I saw her again! Going crazy again, running around, ducking in and out of statues hahaha!
Next day I was abit sad to leave Sleepy Sams but my new place seemed ok. It was in Little India, and later that night I was going to meet the people of my tour. I was going to go to Sentosa again but it rained most of the day (still very hot though) So when it dried up abit I went to Orchard Road, where they have all the main shopping places, but to be honest being on a budget means that a mall is pretty much useless to me, so I went round the corner to the Royal Botanical gardens, which was very serine. They had turtles in this pond which I was really surprised by. But they have some really weird animal sounds over here, like the whole time I went round all I could hear was this very high pitch scream lol but I got used to it after a while.
I was meeting my trip people at 6pm so I got back at 5ish. My room mate arrived abit after. His name is Harry. He's 18 and from Scotland and we get on quite well. That evening Me, Harry, Hannah (our tour guide) and this British couple called Lucy and Craig went from a meal round by Clarke Quay. There are 4 Americans and 2 Finnish girls aswell but they were off doing other things.
Next day got up and got on a bus to Malaysia! I was excited to go somewhere new, and start to save abit of money (Singapore is cheaper than the UK, but nowhere near as cheap as Malaysia or Thailand. It took 3 hours and we got to our hotel which was more boutique than budget. We had lunch at this local restaurant and tasted some of the best food ever! My mum would like you to think I'm not a adventurous eater but it's just that I don't call M&S pre made food that crazy! We had every type of meet possible with the most random sauses and had like 10 serving plates full of food! It was definitely a highlight. Later we went on a trishaw ride round the city (Harry choose a nice pink one for is both with like loads of flowers! haha the most campest thing ever, even if it did have trance blasting out of the speakers). Later we went to a food market and then back to the hotel bar, where this guy was playing a keyboard in the corner against this backing track, and singing the cheesiest songs! It was quite funny, and then this random guy did the New Zealand Hakka. Next day we left in the morning to Kuala Lumpar.
So far everything has been better than I have expected! The people are great, the locals always make things interesting and Asia in general is an amazing place. And random too. Somethings never make sense but they work. I will definitely have to go back to Singapore at some point because there was stuff I didn't get to do. I'm really used to the weather now, infact I really like the heat. I'm off to get some food now and tomorrow we are off to stay in the Jungle with some locals for two days. So when I get to Penang on Saturday I shall up date you on KL and everything!
