Our day for exploring hotels and malls of Las Vegas. Luxor is themed for ancient Egypt. Built as a pyramid with rooms on the skin and hollow inside. There is a monorail for a few of the connected properties down there. So did Luxor and Mandalay Bay, then back to Miracle Mile shops at Planet Hollywood. All the same and, tellingly, not much different from a mall in Australia. It used to be that USA shops were exotic and interesting - not anymore. Went tho Fashion Show Mall as Susan wanted to see the runway show with models doing the whole bit. Fashions very dull; lasted about 10 minutes. Late lunch of burger sitting outside at Strip burgers. Back to room to rest before the Tasting America event at the Mirage. By the pool. Focused around mostly local chefs. Iron Chef guy the star attraction. Food and wine stands around the pool. Guests just circulated eating and drinking; and chatting - we met a number of interesting people. There is a. Thing with champagne in metal covered bottles, and one was actually very nice. Had some excellent dishes that I recorded in the brochure. Home and bed - looking down the barrel of a very early start to go to pick up case and begin the next phase - the drive through Death Valley, Yosemite to San Francisco.
