From Wirral to Berlin
Motorcycle Diaries (Cliff Notes)
In Bali, public transport is banned. So everyone rides motorbikes / scooters. Here are my motorbike adventures in bullet-point form:
- Rode on the back of a motorbike for the first time in Bangkok (and held the driver's waist whoops!)
- Rode a motorbike myself for the first time in Bali
- Fell off a motorbike for the first time the same day. Very minor graze.
- Rode a motorbike through almost waist-deep rice-paddy irrigation flooding for the first time.
- Avoided stray dogs and stray cows almost daily.
- Avoided hindu offerings that people place in the middle of the roads where possible - hope unavoidably running over some hasn't brought me bad karma!
- Rode on the back of a three-man motorbike on our way to party NYE, through rain and flooding. You have to make friends quickly when three of you share one seat!
- Raced a cute guy home from a gaybar for the first time. (I won ;))
- Rode on the back of a cute boy's motorbike for the first time (and apparently for balance reasons, it is easier for me to put my arms on his legs)
- Rode on the back of a cute boy's motorbike more times, moving hands to waist and body as (in)appropriate
- Sang "Love The Way You Lie" in duet with a cute boy on a motorbike (I was Eminem)
- Fell off a motorbike for the second time after too many Arak Attacks and Baliroskas, still not serious injuries but I'm in pain and covered in big plasters!
It was quite a scary experience at first, but it was good fun, and provided I stay off them when I'm wasted I'm not too terrible at it! I'm quite proud I did it, or will be once my knee heels at least!
