Greetings from Broome
It has not taken too long to fall in love with this place again especially as we are in a awesome spot in the best motor camp in town. The Cable Beach Motorcamp is just huge with over 500 sites with most having tall shady trees and although it has nice sealed roads with concrete gutters and well numbered you can find yourself temporarily lost if you go for a walk around at night. Many caravaners stay for weeks or months and they have really amazing set ups with huge awnings with cosy tables and chairs fridges, freezers,TVs and just about everything else in between. The coolest thing about a lot of them is the amazing led lights of all colours, some flashing all different colours just like Christmas so it's a very interesting walk about camp most nights in about 25 deg. Despite the fact it has over 500 sites it is one of the quietest and most well run camps we have ever been in. The people are very friendly and it has a Cafe with really yummy food.
We try to have a walk along the world famous Cable beach most days but with temps in the mid 30's the sun is just too hot to bear even in the warm breeze! One morning we tried setting off early (7-30) when it's a bit cooler but by the time we returned a few hours later it was stifling again so it was a nice relaxing day under the awning reading again. On Thursday we bought a day pass for the bus which gives you unlimited travel. We caught the bus from the camp gate into town to see the area and went for a nice wander around so that filled in the day nicely. It was home again then back on the bus for a quick look at the evening markets before going to see the Kiwi movie Hunt for the Wilderpeople in the worlds oldest running out door movie theatre which was very funny and entertaining. The flight path of the nearby airport is right overhead so it is quite a novel experience having noisy well lit up low flying planes coming in to land overhead about every 1/2 hour.
The plan was to only spend a couple of days here but with it being so enjoyable and laid back and relaxing we have extended our stay twice so departure is now Sunday from this tropical paradise when we will work our way towards Wyndham which is up the top end about a 1000kms away. We will probably stay in a few bush camps on the way as there are not many places so may take about 3 days. One thing that amused us is we saw Stoneleigh wine advertised over here for $9.00 a bottle or $8.50 if you bought 6. We have experienced a bit of bother with bitey things they seem to strike when you least expect it. PS. Hope the forecast snow isn't to bothersome for you all. A small dose of cold wouldn't be to unwelcome at times.
