We have arrived! Finally, after 30 hours around about in transit, we are in Mexico City. The place is amazing and sooooo big, we flew in at night time which was probably a good thing because you can see the lights and they go forever. you can see how this city has 22 million people.
We checked into our hostel which is in a great location after a bit of spanish-english translation and a wild taxi ride and went straight to the roof for a night-cap beer and then hit bed. Jet-lagged we woke up about mid-day and then went to explore the city. We saw the National Museum of Anthropology and then then walked up the main street back towards hostel catedral. That evening we went out and had our first tequila shots in mexico, a neccessity, and then back to the roof-top bar which we highly recommed for cheap caronas.
The following day we did a few more sightseeing things, like see the cathedral and the palace etc and in the evening went out to the venice of mexico city ? odd, but it was cool, going around on gondolas and we met some awesome people that night. A guy invited us to his house the next day to have a real mexican feast at his family´s place for st patricks day. It was great, kinda awkward given we only spoke english and they only spanish, but its amazing how much you can achieve with hand gestures. One mistake i made however was trying to make conversation but accidently called his mum a cow, so i was quiet after that.
We went for a night tour around the city to see the festival of love and an amazing outdoor concert set in front of a chapel, very cool. The next day we hit teotihuacan (the pyramids) and climbed many many steps up the 3rd highest pyramid in the world. it was amazing.
Mexico city was Brilliant. You hear alot of bad things about it, but we really enjoyed it, Liv even says so after face-planting in front of three policeman in the main square. Of course, it helped we met some awesome people for some great memories.
Its onto Oaxaca
