The Good News and the Bad News
Start of the second week has been a little anti-climatic, when the winter games ended we were all busy sleeping instead of bustling with the last of the mayhem of the town. Probably best to let it past considering our learnt lesson, never to drink the day before a lesson.
Along with the rest of our new skiing manual to read, the past week we spent our time covering the basics, the principle five skills the focal point for the course. So far, stance & balance, edgeing, pivoting, have all been introduced as the core of our work. Mike our instructor said the good news was the bad news, and the bad news was that we would never find skiing something fun. Now whenever we start to ski it gets technical very quickly....
But you still find the small victories and laughs to keep you going through the day, the group is a hell of a lot of fun too. Though we all have suspicions over Mike and his sense of "humour," he's a great instructor. Even in just a week my skiing has improved dramatically, still struggling when it comes to the powder black but most of the mistakes come when I'm playing and tweaking my stance. Even then the demand from me has meant going to the gym is almost daily, evenings have been even more stenous but the clubs here are awesome.
Second week to come and my new "bible of skiing" to read I'll be sure to update you all by Wednesday when I have off. Harrison's Birthday tomorrow, wishing him well in advance and will be celebrating with him all the best. Praying to the mountain on behalf of BLITZKRIEG (Dominic) our German Stig on skis, Chaz our joker.... But seriously.
Catch up soon
