The trip to koh samui was most certainly the most painful yet having the hangover of the century! Our pickup was at the port as this is the start of our prearranged trip until February 2nd. We got dropped off at our bungalow which was much more rustic: no aircon, dripping shower and no flushing toilet but hey it's just a place to sleep.
I went for a walk the following day down to chaweng beach what I thought was only 3km turned into 15!
Koh samui seems much more built up and a much older crowd. Chaweng seemed full of fat Russians with young supermodel wives!
I hitched a ride back home on the back of a moped after a solid days exploring.
We rented mopeds yesterday ($6 for the day) an started off going to see some sites. We saw the big gold Buddha and a lady with 8 arms.
On the way along the road we stopped off at a soccer golf course, which is basically a golf course you play with a soccer ball and your foot. After a full 18 holes of a lot of fun we handed in our scores and lo and behold I'd pard the course and was put up on the leader board, as there were no canadians up there I represented!
We carried on our mopeds winding through the streets dodging taxis and carried on down to lamai to see the waterfalls. After riding up to the top of the hill we parked and took a look at the viewpoint out over lamai then went to look for the waterfall. It wasn't the one we expected so after a frustrating exhausting hike we started back down the hill to stop at another potential one.
Again we got to it only to be disappointed, that is until a jungle boy popped out of nowhere and took us on a rough climb up over rocks and through the trees to finally the one we were looking for. We cooled off in the waterfall and then carried on back down to find the mummified monk. Sure enough we found it in the temple in a glass box however the pair of ray bans on him made it a little disconcerting!
Back on our mopeds we headed back to our villa just stopping of at the grandmother and grandfather rocks, supposedly rocks that look like genitalia however we only found one (see pictures).
There was a night market on only 15min walk down the beach from our villa so we spent the evening strolling that and tasting different types of food.
All in all a very good day!
