Hi Everyone,
This morning it was dry but very windy and cold, too cold for me I'm afraid for a walk this morning.
The above picture is of the 17th century harbour at Portsoy we visited yesterday.
Today we drove east to Fraserburgh which is the eastern most point along this part of Scotland. Diane had checked to see if the Lighthouse museum was open, which it was. It was pleasant driving along in Diane's car with the sun shinning we were warm, but when getting out on arrival at the lighthouse museum, which is right at the end of the town and quite an exposed area to the ellements as most lighthouses are we were snap frozen!!
The museum was most interesting, we found it was still a manned lighthouse until 1993 but is now fully automated by computers operating from Edinburgh, in fact no lighthouses in Scotland are manned all are computer operated. The museum area was interesting and gave indepth information, we wandered around for an hour or so before having lunch in the cafe to be ready to join the 1.00pm tour of the lighthouse. Lunch was delicious and we were sat looking through a big picture window out to the ocean watching passing ships.
Fortunately for us it wasn't a particularly tall lighthouse, Michael our tour guide gave interesting snippets of information with his dry Scottish sense of humour. We briefly stepped out onto the balcony area at the top of the lighthouse, the chill of the wind felt freezing, but the view amazing.
We were all cold and happy to return to the warm car and home, another lovely day we have enjoyed.
