Hi!
Nearly a week and a half in Thailand now so thought I'd recap.
Started off with a flight to Kuala Lumpur and then onto Bangkok, all fine except my luggage got left in Kuala Lumpur, so had a wait for it to come!
We met up with the rest of our group and wandered around in Bangkok for the next couple of days, doing river cruises, visiting temples, going out at night and trying the food - fried rice with chicken is a new favourite. Can't believe how cheap it is too, can basically get lunch for a puound. Also went to a cooking class and learnt how to cook Pad Thai, which was fun.
We then got an overnight train to Khao Sok national park - cockroaches and no sleep aside, it wasn't too bad. The park was amazing, basically a huge lake with lots of tree covered rocks - saw a few monkeys in them. We stayed in some floating bungalows that night, woke up with a swim in the lake then headed on to Koh Pha Ngan via ferry.
The accomodation in Koh Pha Ngan was great: bungalows literally 20seconds away from the beach. In Koh Pha Ngan we went to a couple of beach parties, but the main highlight was riding elephants and playing with monkeys. Finished our week with the group with a meal and another beach party, before getting another ferry to Koh Tao.
In Koh Tao we've been staying in our first hostel, it's right opposite a bar so pretty loud but it also means that it's a good location. Yesterday George and I went scuba diving, got the hang of it pretty quickly and dove down to 12 metres, which meant we saw puffer fish, angel fish, stingrays and loads of others.
Last night we also went on a bar crawl, which culminated in me getting involved in a ladyboy cabaret show by dressing up as one and dancing with them on stage!
Our next stop is Koh Phi Phi, looks like we've got to get an overnight ferry, a bus and then another ferry - hassle, but that's travelling I guess.
Will try and update this again soon.
