Today was largely spent having a coffee & reading the paper (could have saved thousands if I'd just stayed at home & done that haha), and I stumbled accross these two articles in the Bangkok Post which I think are worthy of publication on here.
Note that this is the country that reports the reasons for it's president's ousting due to a vote rigging scandal as 'the former president engaged in illegal participation on two cookery programmes on commercial television', which should give you an appreciation of the dubious quality of Thai news journalism.
Fish Packs a Punch
Little Rock, Arkansas (says it all really): A teenager's jaw was broken when a fish flew from the lake where he was riding in an inner tube and smacked him in the face. Seth Russell, 15, was cruising Lake Chicot in Arkansas on a large inner tube towed by a boat when a Silver Asian carp leaped from the water and hit him in the face, knocking him unconscious. "He doesn't remember anything at all", the boys mother, Linda Russell, said last week. "He was laughing, and the next thing he remembers is waking up in a hospital." The teen has had oral surgery to wire several teeth together and still experiences back pain that doctors attribute to whiplash.
And you all wondered why I'm scared of fish.....
Thief Wields Sausage (really this is true!)
Fresno, California: Authorities have arrested a man who broke into the home of two California farm workers, stole money, rubbed one of the men with spices and whacked the other with a sausage before fleeing. Fresno County sheriff's Lt Ian Burrimond says 22 year old Antonio Vasquez was found hiding in a field wearing only a T-shirt, boxers & socks after the robbery. Deputies arrested Mr Vasquez after finding a wallet containing his ID in the ransacked house. (Why would you rob someone's house, take off youir clothes and hide in a field? Why?) The farmworkers told deputies the suspect woke them on Saturday morning by rubbing spices on one of them and smacking the other with a 20cm sausage. Only in America- comments
