Dinner tonight was funny... we arranged to meet upwith a Swiss couple (Michael & Nicole) who we met yesterday whilst catching a bus back from Trivandrum. After meeting them we decided that we all fancied some seafood, so we walked along the cliff side looking at all the fish the restaurants have displayed on the front. After scanning up and down we found a small eatery that had a particularly nice looking medium sized tuna fish, so bartered for a bit and ended up paying 700rps (around £9) for the whole fish which also came with chips, rice, salad and veg. After agreeing the price the chef then took the tuna out of the ice and held it up - what we thought was a medium sized tuna turned out to be an enormous tuna... it was the length of Laura's torso!! So after 30 mins or so a waiter came out with our plate of tuna which had around 15 large tuna steaks on... followed another plate of similar sized steaks!! We all looked at each other as if to say maybe we have gone over the top... when yet another plate of 15 steaks came out followed by all the trimmings! We could of fed everyone in the restaurant!! It was sooooo nice too, cooked in butterand garlic, the worst of it was we only left 3 steaks! Haha
Yesterday we headed further south to a place called Trivandrum which is the capital of Kerala, we caught the train down from Varkala which took around 1hr 30mins.We went there to visit the botanical gardens and zoo, it was nice to see them both but was so hot walking round we ended up having a afternoon snooze in the shade of some trees before heading back to Varkala.
We have really enjoyed our 5 days chilling out in Varkala, but that's enough of bumming around and tomorrow we are up early as we are heading further north to Alleppey to cruise the backwaters of Kerala.Miss you all x x x
