Leg two...
Koh Samui
We’ve just spent five nights in Koh Samui at the Silver Beach Resort. Our room was a Beach Bungalow right on top of our resorts very own private beach, palm trees and all!
Waking up to breakfast practically sitting on the beach was a little taste of paradise (minus the mossy’s) this is real life after all!
I seem to be attractive to the insects gaining an impressive eight bites on our first night. I’ve learnt not to itch them because then they soon disappear if you can resist the urge.
On Koh Samui we spent our first day on our private beach at resort, resting after a long day of travel. I spent the day mainly looking at the palm trees above my head...not a bad view hey?
On day two we walked along the beach to Lamai Beach (one of the best beaches on the island, along with Chaweng). We found a beach swing which was brilliant fun, swinging over the sea...then the beach bums were born. We spent the whole day lazing on the beach in the sun, reading, listening to music and dodging the Thais trying to sell us pot! “Good for holidays” apparently, Ha!
Despite the sun cream (factor 30) and re application! In typical British style I burnt lobster pink, much to our Thai host’s amusement (who laughed and pointed at my burnt legs) on return to resort.
On day three we went on an Island Tour visiting Grandmother and Grandfather Rocks on Lamai Beach which are shaped like female/male genitalia (Gran for some reason this reminded me of you? Can’t think why? For those of you who don’t know my beautiful Grandmother, you’d understand if you did!) We also saw a Mummified Monk, climbed Namuang Falls (a very steep walk but well worth it). Here we meet Carlee from Liverpool, a lovely girl travelling alone. The tour also included a trip to Nathon Town, and probably the most famous landmark on the Island the Big Buddha with a view point over Chaweng Beach.
Our last day on Koh Samui was spent at resort as the night before we experienced a Thai thunderstorm...the loudest thunder I have ever heard. Shook our bungalow!
All in all Island life is laid back. The food is delicious (Pad Thai Noodles, Thai Green Curry and Rambutan Fruit to name a few) and the locals are friendly.
To some up Koh Samui...Grand Theft Auto (Its all the motorcycles, it just reminded me of that game, thankfully minus the violence).
Now on Island number two. Koh Phangan...Party!!!
