Heeeelllooooo kids!
I'm in the big apple and loving it :)
Currently sitting in an internet cafe in Columbus Circle. Walked down to the Guggenheim today (AMAZING - this building on it's own has so much personality) and enjoyed the photography exhibition that's currently on. Lovely lovely way to spend half a day if you ask me, just wandering the long upwards curve of exhibition space with the complementary auditory guide :p
Followed this up with a wander through Central Park - YES it is as brilliant as everyone says it is!!! Absolutely! I was totally jealous of those picnicking and I desperately wished I had a soccer ball and 5 friends! Walked around the Upper East side and marvelled at the beautiful apartments...
Backing up two days, Darren and I arrived into NY on a United flight which was an expressjet. Which meant that it was literally like 2m wide. 2 seats and 1 seat across. It was seriously like flying in the mcdonalds airplane at west lakes. That night we met up with his friends and went out in Greenwich Villiage where I made friends with a lovely couple on their first date (I didn't realise this at the time!) She programs for ESPN and told me that Chuck Bass lived in her apartment! I ended up a little drunk and Darren got me back to my hostel safely.
Met up with Uncle Mick the next day (he was almost half an hour late meeting me so I was kind of stressed that something had happened to him). We went to MoMA and enjoyed the afternoon wandering through Rothko, Pollock, Kandinsky and Mondrian to name a few of my favourites. After that we walked the city, moved his stuff out of one hotel and to another, then I decided to check out of my hostel and stay with him instead so we spent an hour travelling back up town, getting my stuff, back downtown etc. Good fun. I'm a subway expert. We went to Little Italy for dinner, wandered through Chinatown first then after dinner through SoHo and surrounds.
I'm feeling much love for this place! It's lovely just to wander the streets and because i'm here for a while I don't feel any pressure to rush to things. Oh, and Times Square = crazy, bustling, bright, amazing. The different areas around the city are so diverse!
Anyway, that's all for now, missing everyone heaps and wish I could have you all here with me xoxo
