Happy 4th of July people :)
It's now the 5th of July here in NY and about to embark on another full on day of sights.
I'm currently staying in Harlem which is INTERESTING to say the least! Think stereotypical Harlem and you'll almost be there... I'm sure we'll witness a drive by shooting by the end of this. Needless to say we don't go anywhere alone after dark! ESP as we are the only white people to be seen! Hahahaha
I spent a couple of days with Uncle Mick which were nice, full of random wanderings through pretty NY streets, some time in Central Park, a fair bit of time in Greenwich and SoHo, TriBeca etc. By the end of it, he was driving me NUTS and I wanted to purposely lose all 5 of the pens that he carries around with him! If he ever drops one it's a major panic. We actually went out to Brooklyn one night (tried to walk the Bridge but couldn't find where to get on) eventually we got in a cab and I asked the driver to take us to Williamsburg (couldn't even give him a street name!) but just asked to go to the restaurant area, and we ended up eating in a great little Thai place. Williamsburg is tres cool - dirty artists and creatives. Upon arriving I don't think Uncle Mick was impressed but by the time we left he was happy.
Yesterday the boys and I embarked on some kind of tourist day - which consisted of getting lost a lot, walking heaps, getting yelled at by a tour guide and seeing the 4th of July fireworks (disappointing!!) Made it to Wall St and the WTC site (unexciting) dodged people in the Century 21 shop (craziness), got lost finding Little Italy (gorgeous and so busy) and waited forever to get a tube home at midnight (excrutiating!)
The Flatiron Building - Beautiful
Wall St and the Financial district - uneventful
The Brooklyn Bridge (we walked across) - Amazing views
Harlem - SCARY!
Columbia University - Typical American!! Manicured!!
Times Square - Crazy!
Travelling with the boys is very interesting... more later
Bye for now! Miss you xoxo
