Where's Suzie?
I've not got my diary with me so this is purely from memory (may have to revise it later). Arrived in Sydney and went to stay with my mate Leigh in Randwick. It's a good location as it's only a walk away from Coogee beach which is really lively and heaving with backpackers. Spent the first evening (and almost all evenings since) in the Coogee Beach Hotel bar having a few sherbies. On the 29th we went to see Oceans 12 which was brilliant and went out that evening and met a few of Leigh's friends who all sang happy birthday to me at midnight. The next day, despite feeling rather worse for wear, we went into the city centre to meet up with Matt and Elaine, friends of Leigh's from the UK who are over here on holiday. We went out for lunch, met up with Andy (an Aussie mate of Leigh's from London) and all went out for a dodgy Vietnamese meal and a few more drinks in the Paddington area. Needless to say, 31st was quite quiet (as far as I can remember). We (Matt, Elaine, Leigh and myself) just went to down to Coogee bay for a bit and came back to leighs and got ready to go out. We went on a boat trip on the harbour for new year so were advised to get there early because of all the crowds. The harbour was already buzzing when we got there around 6pm so we went for a couple of drinks before boarding the boat. Drinks and food were free on the boat so all we had to do was find a good spot and party. The views were amazing, we cruised up and down the harbour all evening (with what seemed like a million other boats) and watched the fireworks, one lot at around 9pm and then the main ones at 12 (when I spoke to Aaron). We had a spectacular view and would recommend it to anyone. The other people on the boat were really friendly and I got chatting to 4 girls from London who were a bit disappointed with the male talent on the cruise (zero!). Once we left the boat at around 1.30am the city was heaving with people but we were really lucky and managed to get a cab almost straight away back to Randwick. It was a fabulous night all in all and one of the best new years I've had. New Years Day was rather quiet....until the evening when we went out for more drinks and we met up with Julian who'd I'd met in NZ!!
