Ciao!
I am going to give blogging a try as I am away for study abroad in Rome, Italy this summer. I have never done this so please be patient with me, I rant and forget words, but this way you know I'm alive when I don't have wifi, which is often, and are able to read what is happening.
First I don't like Canada, customs is rude and I have no interest in going back. Except to fly back home.... For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about my mom and drove to Windsor, Canada from TC, 4 1/2 hours, and then I flew to Toronto, then into Rome. a total of 9 hours flying and 4 1/2 driving all in one day and night. I also didn't sleep on my 8 hour flight to Rome but got to have my seat kicked and my neighbor practically sleep on me, and am now going on around 36 hours of no sleep, probably minus the 6 hour time difference, so 30 hours.
First for Italy, I must say Italian customs don't care. They just grab your passport, stamp it, and tell you to move on. All good with me!! The downside, airports in Italy are a lot more confusing than the Detroit airport.
Second, every single driver in Italy is insane. I thought we going to die probably 10 times. The lines on the roads are more like guidlines and no one waits to switch lanes. There are also people who wash your windows and juggle at red lights and want tips. People drive in alleys and walk everywhere, no one honks and is ok with nearly dying all the time.
Third, it is extremely hot here. I'm not talking about our TC 70 degree weather, this 70 degree weather is like the 100 degree days during cherry fest. I may need a little sunscreen and be ok with standing out like a tourist in shorts because people also don't wear shorts. They are completely comfortable wearing pants and long sleeve shirts. How they aren't having heat strokes every day , I don't know.
I love it here in Rome. The modern city is built up around the historical city, you drive by the Colossum and are in awe how amazing this structure is and it's use in the past while you take a picture of it and post it on facebook.
The cobble streets where I am saying are beautiful and make you trip but this trip will be an amazing experience and I can't wait to see everything and learn so much from this city and everywhere else I visit.
I miss you all and will see you all in 5 weeks!
