Today was my last day in Boston, and I had a noon train to New York city. I said my farewells to Lisa, and made my way to Boston's BackBay train station where I boarded my train and headed down to NYC.
I arrived at New York's Penn Station around 4 in the afternoon. WOW, very daunting being there for the first time and trying to figure things out!! I found a tourist INFO counter, and to my surprise, there was a very helpful agent on duty. His name was Mustafa, and he was originally from Ghana. He had lived in the city for 11 years. I would say he went above and beyond the call of duty. I told him I was staying at the International Youth hostel which he showed me on a map. He then went into all the dos and dont's of the city. He then even walked with me to get a ticket for the subway, and took me all the way to the right platform and helped me with my suitcase etc. A real gentleman! Thank goodness for his help, cos I'm sure I would have ended up on the wrong train line or something. So, I made it to the hostel by 5pm, and got checked into my room. I was in a 8 sleeper female room. I shared with 7 high school girls from France on their school tour!! My first night in NYC I didn't plan on going out. I got 2 loads of laundry done, and spent the evening in the common room working on my itinerary for New York, and planned my day ahead. I was in bed by midnight.
