Hokee & Dawn were at the hotel to fetch me at 09h00, we collected Rachel from the hostel in Santa Monica, and I navigated our way across town to Universal Studios. What a great day.We started off our day by doing the Universal Studios tour bus, which took us around all the different movie sets.We saw a working set from scenes in "The fast & the Furious"; Jaws movie set with Cabot Cove beach/marina;We drove through Wysteria Lane of Desperate Housewives fame; the crash scene from the Tom Cruise movie "War of the Worlds"; we drove past the house in the movie "Psycho"; and the Griswald's holiday home in the movie - National Lampoon's Vaction; the clear blue sky infront of the pond has been in many movie scenes, to name one was Jim Carey in the movie "Bruce Almighty" where he walks on water.
After the studio tour we hit the rides. Our first stop was the Mummy ride ~ crazy crazy!!!Won't do that again!!I screamed the whole way - sorry Rachel, I think it was in your ear!!!LOL J !!We then stopped for lunch and there after went to the Backdraft show where they show you how they start a fire in a movie and keep it under control ~ very interesting. We then went to the show where they show you how they film scenes and then "overlay" them into the actual movie. Also very interesting. Then we headed to theTerminator show ~ the best at the park I thought!!3D show!!Very impressive!!A must see.
On our way back home that night we decided to stop off downtown for a last night drink.Billy had mentioned to me the Standard Downtown hotel, so we looked it up in the Lonely Planet, and what an excellent choice!!It has a really funky rooftop bar with spectacular views of the city.We had about 4 rounds of drinks there and lounged around in the water bed pods and had a really great time!!Hokee of course was drinking Virgin Mary's while the rest of us were on the adult cocktails.
We dropped Rachel off at her hostel back in Santa Monica, and said our farewells to her, next stop was me at the Radisson, and from here I was on my own again!!Warm farewells to Hokee & Dawn, with promises to keep in touch and hook up on good old facebook!!!
