Port Kelang Kuala Lumpur: this morning started with a short trip to a shopping mall in KL. Here all electronic stuff is good value. The Indian lads off the boat brought up loads of 50" TV's. Apple products were also about 30% less than the UK. No snide stuff here. General things are much cheaper food is dirt cheap Wendy found a big mac meal for less than £2!
iPad2 are about £275 but the iphone4s is £475 not sure if that is good or not. lots of them being snapped up . Very hot and humid no sun all cloud today so shopping was not a bad option bit like yesterday. KL is similar to most other large Asian cities but it seems the further west we travel the more modern and the cleaner it gets. In general the resort areas are more fun than the cities, so I will move on to discuss the ship life.
Nothing has been said but last night the security appeared again the sonic guns were on deck as were the water cannon. We can only imagine that there are more pirates than we first thought. Goodness knows what It will be like when we get to the straights of Hormuz.
Ship entertainment; there is a dance group who sing and dance their way through various routines like the excellent Motown night recently, they are really good. Tonight they done an evening of swing music which again was really good. Every night they are on we are straight down the front.
However the brought in entertainers include David Copperfield (not the magician but the comedian), Maurice Grumbleweed and Tom O'Connor (who is now about 90). I am afraid that in my opinion they have all been tragic. If we get duped into going along after dinner we find it torturous. When I think about it you wonder what the entertainment managers were thinking when they set out to recruit these people. With all the Tribute bands around you would think that it is easy to get a reasonable line up. Mix up string quartets with a bit of rock. Strangely the really poor shows are not always a bad thing. It empties the bars of all the real saddos and gives the bars a much livelier ambiance.
We have got a nice little firm together now and we spend our evenings together either drinking or at the quizzes which are taken very lightly by us, or karaoke etc.
It's always a treat to speak to the kids on Skype which we manage on some port days. We are also following the football, what's going on with the Chelsea, come on the blues.
