Well the sad news is that we didn't win the 'best dressed foreigner in Rajasthani costume' because the competition was fierce. I think the beauty parlours and hotels trawl the streets looking for foreigners and spend the whole day doing them up. However we did look pretty stunning, Paul was in a typical costume including turban and I was in a bright yellow sari. It was lots of fun and we got to stand on stage and make a small speech and sit in the VIP area and even saw ourselves on TV teh next day. In fact only yesterday as we were walking back to out hotel in Pushkar that a man hung his head out of a car window and shouted that he had seen us on TV that morning. The down side of this was that he knows our driver so was very likely tipped off to our 15 seconds of fame.
It was well worth it and next time we are going to come prepared :-)
So today we are in Pushkar getting ready to drive to Jaipur. We went and made our prayers at the only Brahma temple in the world (sorry, Universe!) and wandered around the second hand book shops admiring all the burnt out hippies.
After Jaipur we are onto Agra to see the magnificent Taj Mahal. and then the sleeper train to Varanasi where we are spending 4 nights before hopping on a flight to Kathmandu - from then on in we are on our own - keep your fingers crossed.
As soo as we find a computer that lets us load our photos on at a reasonable speed we will stick some pictures up.
Until next time x x x
