Day 14- 30th August 2012-Lincoln Il to Chicago Il.
So today we head toward the windy city and our final stop on route 66. We drove through Atlanta, which was a small town but with a giant statue of a man holding a hot dog, another town with a giant astronaut but most of the towns we drove through were more like the average American town. Unlike the interesting little towns and places that we have been coming across, we defiantly realized we were heading into the more populated areas.
We stopped at Joliet when the second sat nav (Bethan) kept on telling the driver to turn left. This was into the car park of a mall, so me, mam and Bethan hit the shops. The boys however headed to a pub called the Tilted Kilt- they were very impressed by the bar staff and apparently they struggled to stay on the bar stools due to their eyes being distracted.
I managed to by lots of tops, and finally got something for Gethin. After we read a text saying our shopping curfew was at 4pm reading it at 4.05, we received a call from the boys telling us to get back to the car. We then headed to the windy city, when we arrived we drove around searching for a hotel the price however was ridicules, so we headed out towards the airport getting stuck in traffic, and getting lost- but eventually finding the place we stayed in last time.
For tea we went to Shoeless Joe's where Darren decided he would attempt the 32oz burger challenge, as he needed a clean t-shirt for tomorrow- amazingly he managed it all making the waitresses laugh and comment on how he is probably the smallest person that has ever finished the challenge.
