Queenstown is absolutely fabulous! As far as I can see, there are only two problems - the first that I'm at least 20 years older than I really should be to fully enjoy all that this fabulous city has to offer, the second is that we only have two days here! However, there's a silver (or should that be grey?) lining to very cloud. The very good thing about being an 'old fogey' is that we are staying in a completely fabulous suite in the wonderful Hotel St Mortitz which has the most amazing views. Now that's definitely a plus!
A very cool place to spend time in and a very compact city to walk around, I immediately felt completely at home in Queenstown. A trip in the gondalas up to the Skyline restaurant - and a fall into the gondala by a fellow passenger (relieved for a change it wasn't me!) - gave us the most amazing views of the city. Stunning! Two thing were of particular interest to Stuart - the golf course (for him!) and the luge (for me!). Thankfully I had a very good excuse - posh frock and 'heels' - not to try the latter (phew!). As for the former, well we are saving our golf on this holiday until we play the incredibly special Pebble Beach in San Francisco so that seemed to keep him quiet ... for a short time at least!
The next day, after a stroll around the fabulous Queenstown Gardens - and an introduction to an alternative form of golf involving frisbee! - we joined part of the NZ wine tasting trail and visited some local vineyards to taste the fabulous Pinot Noirs for which the region is known. For me, this is the perfect way to while away a relaxing Sunday afternoon. I was obviously very much in my element. However I did have to repay the favour later for dragging Stuart to the vineyards when he told me he wanted to go to the local Casino! Sadly, I was not to be his 'lucky lady' ... maybe we're saving our luck for when we come to explore the delights of Milford Sounds.
