We are Sailing
The Travel people picked us up on time, and their were 4 other Australians in our group. Two young girls from Sydney going to Europe, and two middle aged people from Brisbane, returning from a 8 week sojourn of Europe.
The tour took us out about 45 mins from Dubai, into desert country. I MEAN desert, nothing but sand as far the eye can see. A 4wd dream. We were in a new Land cruiser, fully decked out. The driver was great, and he loved hammering it through the sand dunes. We had to stop to help one of the others that got bogged. The sand is fine, almost like talcum. We were in a Conservation Park, set aside for this type of activity. We saw the camels, and a Falcon demonstration, as Falconeering is a Bedouin tradition. After hooning around the dunes, we had a traditional meal in a desert camp setting. The meal was excellent. It was then followed by a belly dancer. Not really my scene, but she certainly was fit. After that we made our way back to town, so I could write you this blogg. My personal view of Dubai is it is extremely hot and humid. Take a lot of getting used to. There is so much building going on it is amazing. I do not know how they will fill all the buildings. Everything is big, very big. Credit must be given, the place is spotlessly clean, we could learn a lot from the Arabs. Seems like Universal Studios is building their worlds largest studio park here also. Without doubt Dubai is worth the visit.
Well this is the final blogg, as Cheryl and I will be back in Perth tomorrow night. I hope you have enjoyed keeping up with our little adventure, we have certainly enjoyed every moment of it.
