Den on the loose
Back again,
So after waking up with a mosquito buzzing in my ear in the morning we went for a 2-3 hr trek out in the open and then into the rainforest where we were completely surrounded by loads of vegetation and the sounds of bats and weird creepy crawlies.
To get to the river where we start our Rubber Ring tube floating we had to do a bit of river walking which was pretty cool as walked in freshwater which was clean enough to drink.
So after our dangerous trek through the forest and over and down some really steep cliffs and hills we finally made it to the river where we were all dying to have our lunch especially me. (F.Y.I i had and egg salad roll which was nice)
Floating down the river was so surreal as you look around you its like something out of a movie and then you find yourself hitting the rapids on a piece of rubber inner tube which looks a bit suss and not really sea worthy.
Anyway the rapids wasn't all that bad the first one we went through was more like a babbling brook then a rapid and the second one was better but didnt last that long.
After all of that excitement we then climbed up to the waterfall and we were all jumping from the waterfall as well as the man made concrete diving board into the river which was so exhilarating but i almost got sucked back underneath the diving board as the currents in the river was so strong and it didnt help with me having my shoes on draggin me down.
That night we hit the town of Suva and had a meal and then we headed back to our hostel where we continued our drinking but this time we bought some Kuava which is a non-alcoholic drink made from a tree root but even though its non-alcoholic after a lot you start to trip a bit and it leaves a numb sort of feeling on your tongue like strepsils.
At the hostel our guide 'Abel' made the kuava drink in a traditional bowl and then served it to us in coconut bowls and the procedure for dinking it is to shout 'Bula' and then clap once and then drink whilst the person who gave you the bowl claps three times and then after you've finished you clap 3 times.
Also there are 3 sizes in terms of amounts when drinking kuava from a bowl those being low tide, high tide and tsunami (this is when their fill the bowl right up to the rim) which is the equivalent to our half pints and pints etc.
Anyway i had loads of kuava that night and didn't really feel a thing as we stayed up talking and playing a bit of pool.
Oh yeah the good thing about kuava is that it helps your liver but on the flip side it damages your kidney, but at least you dont get a hangover.
Well thats it for Day Two so bye for now i reckon.
