After last night's Stardust experience, complete with singing waitresses, this morning's early rise was a struggle for all. We set off from Penn station on time destined for Washington DC at 7.17am. The journey was uneventful, just a quick re-visit from the prior day's Mexican nosh - arriba!! arriba!! Arriving at Washington station, the place looked industrial and unappealing until we entered out into the ornate and unbelievably large main station. A quick (and surprisingly expensive) taxi jaunt to the hotel, via the Pentagon, relieved us of our bags. Today was tough, jetlag and the energy zap of New York has taken its toll. Stomping forth in 90f heat with 100% humidity made us feel weary, despite someone insisting they were Jack Bauer (Dave!). We stood in front of, then discovered it was the back of, the White House - smaller than we all expected, no invite from Obama for tea either. There is monument after monument, memorial after memorial, can we have some water please? Capitol Hill went head to head with Ben & Jerry and the ice cream won. All looking forward to Vegas now for some rest and relaxation...
