We came into Whitehorse Monday night, from Skagway. Monday was an amazing day. So many marvelous sites and vistas.
We rode from Haines Junction , YK to Haines, AK, then took a ferry to Skagway, AK, then rode to Whitehorse, YK! It was raining off and on all day and the morning ride was very cold but amazingly beautiful. We saw three big cinnamon bear cubs playing, eagles galore, soaring, swooping, & watching from tree top nests.
Haines was smaller than I had expected and Skagway was the most commercialized, tourist town I have ever seen! The cruse ships come into the port and the passengers swarm the shops, hurrying back to their ships. The locals call it the cattle caul or something! Bit whatever, as the 'Locals' leave Skagway, with rhe bank books full, in the fall, when the ships stop coming and head south to California or Arizona for the winter!
We are staying with a friend of Shirley's! Yesterday, Lori, Shirley & I went to G&P for supper. Shirley started her meal with a cocktail drink called Bella-Bellini. It was delious and we all drueled over it!
