July 18. We left Haines Jct early this morning on Hwy3, through the very cold but beautiful Chilkat Pass to arrive early in Haines, AK in hopes of getting to see bear fishing and the salmon tuning the river! After fearing we might run out of gas, we made it into Valdez, through clouds, cold and a few pockets of rain! On the way here we saw a large brown bear, a little black bear, that i scared away before anyone could take a picture. Friday, July 15. We were trying to make it to Valdez today, but we didn't make it! Not because of rain or construction, more because of the beautiful vistas. I just had to stop and stop and stop again to take pictures and marvel at the wonder before me! My words will never convey the sights nor will the pictures capture the awe of scenery around us!
Well darn! This is the second time I have lost a post. Now I don't know what I said and don't want to re-enter another one! So, suffice to say, today and yesterday have been a gift to treasure! I love being out on and close to the ocean. Today was windy but I throughly enjoyed the time we had in Homer & Homer Spit. I wish we could go back tomorrow.
