After fearing we might run out of gas, we made it into Valdez, through clouds, cold and a few pockets of rain! On the way here we saw a large brown bear, a little black bear, that i scared away before anyone could take a picture. (oops, sorry!), the beautiful Bride Veil Falls & the Horse Tail Falls, the Keystone Canyon and the Worthington Glaciers, all along the Richardson's Hwy. Lunch was at the Totem Inn, and we may come back here for dinner, as they did not have crab on the mid day menu. :(
Left Valdez around 4 this afternoon, heading for Tok. No crab dinner! Rode through more rain, fog and gravel but arrived safe and sound in Tok around 10 pm! We were treated along the way with beautiful vistas, like the sun breaking through the clouds and lighting the mountains, as though they were a painted picture. I truly appreciate the gift of sight and the privilege to travel to witness such gifts of nature.
Arriving in Tok, We were lucky and got the last room available in Tok tonight! It is a non-smoking room! Yeah! But it has two twin beds! Should be a cozy night!!
Valdez was much a smaller town than I expected. The harbor, though, is huge. We wondered how a boat docked on the inside would ever get out. Then we around 3 o'clock the boats start to leave the marina, the outside ones first then the others! It was interesting to watch them maneuver, slowly out to sea for the evening fishing expedition! The sea looked calm, and we wondered and wished we were going out too. Maybe next time we come back!
