Just a few other things to add to the stories below:
Personal differences:
Being left handed - being left handed in China is not an option. So when I write on the board or eat with chopsticks it is quickly noted.
Having blue eyes – one to use to my advantage.
Other notes:
Name - now, do you remember the English guys’ names? Well, Marc’s starting to wonder why I respond every time he asks ‘Rich’ a question. I've decided not to go through the whole Reg/Chris debacle and stick wholly to Chris. This is becoming quite difficult with Rich around and even more so when you’re mildly deaf. I look like someone desperate to be in the conversation every time!
Toilets – you need to squat in the ones out and about and at work. Yes, at work.
Food and drink – meals are typically one to two pounds. Dumplings are 10p each. I bought 2 beers and 2 packs of crisps for £1.20.
Taxis – 80p for a short journey. It costs £5 to get to the next town over (half an hour away) or 30p on the bus.
(the picture is a 'dragon boat' - I didn't take it)
