YIPPEEEE! I finally found an apartment of my own! I signed the lease on saturday night and moved in sunday! I have three roommates, a girl from Virginia (Lydia), a girl from Amsterdam (Cat) and a guy from France (Romain). I found a posting online on an expat website from Cat and Lydia just looking for a third roommate because they had been not been able to find a two person apartment in the neighborhood they wanted at the price they wanted. Then we found a 4 bedroom apartment and thankfully Romain responded to their ad as well and it has all worked out so perfectly! I feel really lucky because they all seem really cool.
Tonight I went to a really nice Greek restaurant for dinner with Cat, Romain and two of Cat's friends. It was such a cute place! It was all white and blue and we were sitting upstairs on the balcony and the weather was perfect! The food was also very good, I got a gyro platter which came with REAL french fries. And by real I mean that they didn't taste like they had been fried in 2 day old oil. After dinner we went to a nice little lounge/bar called The Challet it was really cute and we just hung out for a bit. Kevin came and met us there which was nice so he could meet my roommates. Cat was pretty much playing tour guide for us which was nice because she knows a lot of cool places. We also went to a super American bar called I <3 Shanghai. Right when you walk in it just screams American. I can't really explain how, maybe because it was a little bit of a dive, but it just seemed nice and familiar. They had a board that reccorded what state/country that everyone who had taken an absinteh shot was from, Washington State was number 3 on the list with the most people!
So Cat used to live in a different building in the same complex that we are living now so she and Lydia know a lot of people living here. We went to one of Cat's friends' apartments that was on the top floor of one of the buildings and they have a huge balcony with an amazing view. It was so cool! I cant imagine how expensive that apartment is but it was a really nice place to experience. Apparently they always have people over for various parties or get togethers so hopefully I'll be able to hang out there and see the awesoem view more often!
Anyways, besides finding an apartment, nothing that exciting has happened in my life... still enjoying working. Im going to be pretty busy this month. FIELDS is having a lot of events and we are trying to put out a short "lifestyle" magazine, so I have a lot of writing to do. Oh I guess i forgot to mention that I will be going to Hong Kong next thursday. My 90 days on my visa will be up at the beginning of November. I really can't believe it! Hopefully everything goes smoothly and I think it will be a great trip! My boss at work has asked me several times when Im going becuase she wants me to buy her stuff there. I guess the taxes are much less in HK than in mainland China so when people go to HK they just shop all day.
Alright well it is my bed time. I will try to post again soon!
