Today we arrived in Cesky Krumlov, the "jewl" of the Czech Repulic. As if we were not allready in love with this country this place sealed the deal. It's hard to compare it to anywhere else we've been (ever). It reminds us of a Vail minus the mountains but has a hippie/healthy vibe like Boulder; so ultimately it reminds of a Czech Colorado so how could we not love it! It's nesteled along an arching river and sheltered by some forested hills. We arrived just in time for the good weather and ending up staying longer because we couldn't imagine saying goodbye so early. We ended up staying at a cute hostel that was run by a Canadian Couple who have been there for around 17 years. We were happy to note that there was no Canadian paraphilnalia :)! Anyways we had our own little appartment below the owners house which was away from the main hostel and on the riverfront. The apartment made us feel like we were living as hobbits since it seemed to be carved into the hillside and everything had a curvy country vibe to it, which we loved. This was by far the nicest hostel we have stayed in up to date.
We spent our time relaxing and roaming around the tiny streets taking in every nook. There was literally something to see around every corner. On our second day we opted to rent a raft to float down the river. This was a great trip. We were able to paddle through the entire town and on to some others; all the time taking in some increadible scenery. We even stopped twice to grab a Pilsner Urquell at some small riverside establishments. By the way Brandon is obsessed with Pilsner Urquell beer. Anyways what should have taken about three hours (so we were told) took us a little over four including the stops and some intense rowing. According to Brandon I am an excessive rower! Yet he seemed to like doing loop-d-loops instead of going straight!
Our final day in Cesky we spent exhausted and sore. We had a hard time accomplishing anything and ended up camping out in the castle gardens to do some reading! It was hard for us to leave but we eventually had to say goodbye to this cute riverside paradise although there was a summer opening at the hostel and we seriously considered staying! Oh well, next time!
