It's hard to believe but we are now alone in Europe. We've been here for about a month but with our parents the whole time so it's hard to believe were on our own again. We had a sad goodbye in Zurich as we watched Debbie and Larry (Ahlstrom parents) leave on a night train back to Vienna to catch their flight. We knew that they had no idea what they were in for with the over night train but it wasn't until this moment that I think they finally realized what was in store for them for the next nine hours. Perhaps the flight seemed like a better idea at this point! Yet, it's good for them and a once in a lifetime experience which we can garantee they will never do again (they had to share a cramped compartment with two others and they got the top bunks). For a moment we didn't think they would even have room for their luggage but in the end they survived and are still talking to us!
WE booked a room ahead in Munich but when we arrived it was already taken so the hotel gave us the attic room in a partner hotel at a lower rate. So we stayed in a four star hotel at the price of a hostel and got a free buffet breakfast, it was great! Although we had to pass through storage and employee changing after climbing a couple flights of stairs just to get to it. Yet it reminded us of a place we stayed together in Amsterdam six years ago so it brought back good memories! I can't say we accomplished much in Munich. We covered the main drag a few times, took in the Hoffbrau haus and the olympic park site.
