Nice and wet for our arrival in Hanoi but definitely not cold. We marvel constantly at the "relaxed" OHS: entire families on motorbikes, smoking in cafes, dodgy electrical cables bundled together and flagrant disregard for "no mobile phones on" during take off and landing but somehow everything flows and only gives the tourists the heart-starts.
We explored the old quarter of the city on our arrival and have been fascinated by the architecture and just how many bikes cars and tourists can squeeze into one VERY narrow alley/street.
Our First taste of rain and family ponchos! Yes, a poncho with two heads especially for family motorbike travel.
Pho soup (pronounced fur) was dinner and consumed overlooking the streets cape chaos at the front of our hotel.
Earlier we made a significant donation to the pineapple ladies who insisted we pose with their baskets! At least we haggled!!
Another first was a homeless man setting up his bed in a closed shop front. In a country where family is so looked after this is not a common sight.
We will continue our walking tour of Hanoi tomorrow and of course shopping will be part of the fun with entire streets dedicated to a particular item - we're just off silk street!
