I didn't feel too healthy when I woke this morning, but after my shower and breakfast I felt a bit better. My Africa bug came back to haunt me big style as well as a bit of a hangover so I did feel rubbish. Maybe I should have got checked out while I was in Perth... let's hope it's not the Lake Malawi parasite that's all I'm caring about haha.
I had a quiet morning, chilling and newsing to Hannah about how random last night was before I headed out. I got the MRT to the Harbour Front and then got the monorail over to Sentosa Island. Hannah had already been so I just went myself and walked around the different areas. Sentosa Island is a man-made themed park/fantasy island that has loads of hotels, hundreds of restaurants, universal studios and loads of different attractions around the island.
It was really hot today but it was overcast and it kept looking like it was going to rain UNTIL it rained... and it rained... and it rained! I was stuck under a canopy with picnic benches for quite some time. The thunder and lightening was impressive though, luckily I wasn't in any rush and just waited.... and waited.... and waited. Until I had spent a good hour and then I gave up and made a run for the monorail. I was planning taking the cable car back across to the city, to see the views but it was so dark and wet, I wasn't going to get any good photos.
I went back to the hostel on the MRT to change and shower etc before heading to the famous Raffles Hotel for an original Singapore Sling. I had a lovely walk around the court yards before going up to Long Bar for my cocktail, $30 later (£15) and many nut shells thrown on the floor... that was my Raffles experience over :) I really enjoyed it though, the two tables at either side of me were really nice and we took each others photos etc.
Hannah came and met me after and we headed to Clarke Quay for some drinks :) Lisa from my uni class was travelling with Rachel, from the GI ward and they arrived into Singapore tonight, so they came and met us about 10.30pm. It was so good to see them both, and here about their Asia trip so far, they left home 3 weeks ago to spend a whole year travelling. They are so nice girls and we had such a laugh. Hannah went home early, and the three of us ended up in the Highlander bar, as their was live music. Singapore is SO expensive though... £10 for a gin lemonade or vodka lemonade. Yes I was drinking gin tonight! Crazy.com :)
I'm guessing you can tell, neither of us even got tipsy tonight with those prices. It was very much a catch up :) maybe I had 3 or 4 drinks in total... crazy prices. We then headed back to our hostels, it was late though about 2ish. Lisa and Rachel were only staying 10 minutes from me, so I had a 10 minute walk myself. I felt totally safe and fine walking at night here, but I came across a young guy collapsed and unconscious, he had two guys proding him but I felt so bad I didn't stop. I probably did the right thing walking on, as who knows what the situation was but he just looked like a young British backpacker.
Anyways I was wide awake when I got back to the hostel and ended up staying up till half 3, on the internet etc. The hostel is so nice and clean, I would totally recommend it to anyone.
I am loving Singapore... It's an amazing city!!! So far it's my favourite, as far as cities go on this trip :) xxx
