Hello Everyone,
We are in Cambodia! We love it so much, we have been here 3 days now in Siem Reap and we have spent the 3 days looking at the Ankor Wat temples. They are so beautiful and there are so many to see! We have millions of photos of them too so have a look when you can!
Anyway before now i had written up until Koh Samui, Thailand. Well Koh Samui was beatuful. We stayed in the main town Chaweng, there was lots of markets, restaurants and taxis (beeping all day - very loud!). The first day we spent looking around all the markets and seeing the beach but it was too hot to stay out all day, top temp reached 42 degrees C!!! The next day we did a city tour, it was really good, saw lots of good temples, a mummified monk, saw a monkey show, cuddled a huge tiger, and fed lots of elephants! very fun!
After Samui we went to another island - Koh Pha-ngan. This was my favourite island i think. we didnt stay in the main town, it was very busy and a bit smelly! We went right to the top of the island and stayed in Mae Hat, a tiny beautiful beach. it was so quiet and peaceful and it had such brilliant snorkelling! We only stayed here for 2 days then moved to the main town Haad Rin for 2 days where we did a thai cooking course. It was ace! so much fun, just us two on the course with the chef and we learnt how to cook Spring rolls, Pad Thai noodles, Tom Yum soup and banana and coconut dessert! then we had a feast! so when we come home we will cook Thai lots, the food is great!
After we went to Koh Toa, we had a bit of a nightmare because it looked such a nice place but there was a monsoon and it rained for the whole 3 days really hard! you could only see 50m infront of you so sight seeing wasnt really possible! we played alot of card games in this 3 days! ha ha!!
Then off to Bangkok, we went on the night train which was a horrible experience, i thought the train was going to come off the rails it was that rocky and rough! plus the monsoon was still on! very scary!
We only spent one day in Bankok as we are coming back here b4 flying home. we stayed on Ko San Road - the crazy backpacker road with 24 hour markets and parties! very loud but good fun!
So after that we had a 14 hour bus journey to Cambodia, we got ripped off on visas and left stranded for buses but this is normal and we expected it!!! its only meant to be a 7 hour journey but they take you to so many places so you spend money on food etc then they make you get there so late, you are so tired and then you stay in their guest houses! very clever really bcos the scams work!! They need to though because when you see how poor people are over here thay are just trying to make a living i guess. When we crossed the border to cambodia kids run up to you and beg for food, water , money etc and its really sad because some of them are only 2 or 3 years old! we always give in - they follow you for about ten minutes grabbing your arm and saying 'ýou make me cry!'
Anyway the country is beautiful, the locals still live in tiny wooden huts and wash in the lakes. its quite a shock to see!
So thats all for now, im starving so we are off to eat more rice!!! rice, rice, rice! everyday, 3 times per day!!! hee hee! love it though!
love to you all, see you in a month!!!!!!
