To Brisbane...
It's so weird to be in a city again! We left Surfers Paradise this morning for Brisbane, where we arrived at midday. The first thing I noticed is that it is a stereotypical working city, full of groups of policemen, businessmen, and busy women. A shuttle bus from the hostel, Somewhere To Stay, picked us up and once there we checked in to our rooms. The hostel seems really nice - the rooms are basic but the building is white wooden and quaint. The three of us left Angie, who isn't feeling well, in the room, and took the shuttle back into the city. We had a wander around, and then got on the free city loop to the Botanical Gardens. Brisbane is really clean and new, and even the University buildings are pretty to look at. We went to the art museum on one of the campuses which was good, and then walked along the river to bridge and crossed over to the South Bank, a lovely new area with loads of restaurants and museums. One of these is the Museum of Performing Arts, which we had a look around, before taking the shuttle back to the hostel. In the evening Angie felt a bit better, and so the four of us went to a noodle bar, and then came back and played cards on one the decks, where we could see the nightscape of the Brisbane lights.
