Today I didn't mind getting up early so much, as we went glacier walking! We arrrived at the Fox Glacier guide point and got kitted out with walking boots and socks - not the most attractive outfit! After a long hike up a mountain and through a rainforest (I have no idea what it was called, I was too busy trying to breathe!) we arrived at the glacier. We had to attach crampons to our boots to give grip on the ice and tuck our combats into our socks - even hotter! The glaicer was beautiful; it was a lot hillier than I had imagined, with a lot of ice walls and holes, with streams of water running through it. It's difficult to describe how amazing it feels to be walking on the ice.
We then had another long drive to Queenstown, where we stayed in a hotel overlooking the lake and town. In the evening we went for dinner at the skyline restaurant, which we reached by cablecar. Again, it had spectacular 360 degree views, and great food! Afterwards we went for drinks at the World Bar, where we had cocktails poured from ceramic teapots!
