"Get naked, it's great!"
Another early Greyhound journey this morning, to Byron Bay. We arrived at about 1.30pm in the town centre, which on first impression seems exactly like the surfer towns I imagined Australia would be full of. We took a taxi to the Byron Bay Beach Resort where we're staying for the next four nights. We were a bit worried about what it would be like, as we're not paying very much for what the website says it has. It's fine though - the lodge is actually just what we wanted, with our own kitchen and open plan living room and bedroom. It's set in a kind of rainforest resort with swimming pools and a golf course - a bit nice for us!
In the mid-afternoon we walked along the beach to the town , which is about a thirty minute walk, and was quite an experience. First we had to cross a mini-river which was running down the middle of the beach really fast, and coloured bright red. Then a completely naked man came into view, and just casually walked straight at us - we didn't know where to look! After that, we saw loads of naked people, and it turned out that we were on a nudist beach! One girl told us to "get naked!", but we weren't so keen! In town we had a look around all the surfer shops, and then went into a travel agent to book our Fraser Island and Whitsundays tours. We also did a supermarket shop, and then went back to our lodge to make dinner and watch our favourite Sunday night programme - "So you think you can dance!"
