Sorry guys, haven't had a chance to update my blog, but here goes, slowly catching up... hopefully haven't forgotten anything.
Woke up for an early morning guided tour of Krakow. Walked through the main square, the park (forgot the name), Jewish Quarter (where part of Schindlers List was filmed) and through the university etc. There was a park with metal statues of what looks like angels on one side, but from the other side it looks a little phallic.
After that we went to the Wieliczka Salt Mine which was a short bus ride out of Krakow. We were all jammed into a small little mini bus which made for a cosy ride. The mine was so big, and really pretty as well. There is a cathedral/church inside the mine which is so beautiful. There are statues of the pope, a patron saint of salt miners (who knew this saint existed) and the chandeliers are made from big salt crystals. Our Polish tour guide was classic as well: "This wheel is usually pushed by 4 people, but I can do it by myself today because I have had 2 red bulls"
After 2 or so hours at the salt mine we all caught the bus back to the hostel and got ready for dinner. A few of us decided to trick Carlos (our tour guide) that we lost Bokkie, his mascot soft toy. He looked so gutted so we gave it back just before dinner. He looked much relieved... poor thing. A few of us went to a vegetarian restaurant next door (yum) and the others went to a pub where they had the biggest schnitzel ever.
After dinner, Carlos (tour guide) took a few people out salsa dancing and few people went to watch the footie. Me, Bec, Alice, Liz and Anna + Michael (the only boy) went to the cafe for a chat and dessert. After that we went to the salsa club to find the others. Turns out Carlos could not keep up with Cinthia's natural Ecquadorian salsa so she had no one to really dance with. Went back to the hostel after that and packed for the Zarkopane.
PS: I swear I am starting to speak like an Australian hanging out with them so much.
