Took an easy day today... Slept in and then went out and looked around a market then realised I can't really buy anything so left. Amsterdam is an expensive place btw! And I'm not being cheap or anything, but its almost just as bad as Paris.
Went to the Floating Flower Market and Torture Museum which was interesting but a bit of a waste of money. They had contraptions from hundreds of years ago and used them to get confessions out of people who they thought had done bad things.
Then went to 'Our Lord in the Attic' Museum which is one of the hidden catholic churches I spoke about in my last blog. This was built by a wealthy catholic and the church is made up of 3 floors of 3 adjacent buildings. From the outside you would not think a church like this is behind. The church is in the top 3 floors of the building and it has the main floor, alter, organ + 2 levels of galleries above. Its pretty amazing how they did this. The galleries do look a bit wonky though and looks like its about to cave. They also showed the bedrooms/kitchens/ bathrooms of the house. I would recommend this place as well for anyone visiting the Dam.
Went back to the hostel and did the laundry.. yippee.. Don't know why I feel like I have to share with everyone exactly when I do the laundry, but I do. Started talking to a guy from Columbia who was also doing his laundry. Its pretty interesting to hear where other travellers are from, what they do, where they have been and where they are going. This guy is an auditor in a bank back home so had some interesting stories of dodgy going ons.
Anyway, my clothes should be done now... better go check the dryer :P
