hello again
well we arrived in Auckand on the 16th, got in about 9.00 o clock in the evening so we dumped our stuff had a look round the hostel, Base, then got some food. the next day we planned to do a little shopping to buy a fleece ready for the South Island, and to get much needed toiletries. we also ended up buying a suitcase each, because i can't cope with my bag any longer, its not true what they say, that you grow to love your bag,as i dispised mine and continuely punished it whenever i could. i had also had one too many tantrums so it saved on those aswell. we checked out the Skytower, but to be honest there really is not alot to do in Auckland. We jumped on the kiwi bus the next day to start our new zealand adventure, and so far it has been.
our next stop was bay of the islands for a couple of days, lovely place and very scenic. we then took a day trip to cape reinga, we climbed a hill which is the northest point in New Zealand, we also saw the point where the pacific ocean meets the tasman sea. that same day we went sand boarding down the dunes, which was so cool. i could only manage two as spending a week lying on a beach did nothing for my stamina, it was such hard work. we had to head back to auckland for another night, as that was our first real stop. the next day we left there and headed for mercury bay. we went to there hot water pools, and we girls left the guys to dig the holes. i really didn't fancy going in so i just dipped my toes, it was still really hot. we also visited cathedral cove which was good but the walk to and from was still knackering. our next destination was rotorua, which was really smelly, it stunk of egg, but we bypassed that for an afternoon of zorbing. that involved rolling down a hill in a blown up ball. it was so much fun and worth the money. we left rotorua in the morning and headed for waitomo and black water rafting. so much fun, and first of any adventure activites i want to do.
