Hey me again, just updating you guys on my adventures. Sorry its been a while.
Anyway, so we've done the zorbing in Rotorua. We also went out in the evening to Hot Rocks, which was great fun, and it was the first proper night out with the gang. Have photos to show, which will be added. Had the funniest two canadians on our bus which were like the two characters out of Waynes World. Rotorua stunk of egg due to the sulphar, it was so smelly-just had to mention that.
We did our black water rafting in Waitomo our next stop, which was so much fun and scary. First we kitted ourselves out in the wetsuits- not the most flattering suit. trying to get into it was a hard times before we had even started the rafting. We had to abseil down into the cave, which was hard enough as i wasn't moving on my rope. i had to jump around to try and get down. eventually it worked and i made my way down through a tiny gap to the bottom. we then had to do the flying fox, which entailed flying along a zipline in the dark further down in the cave. we then had the chance to stop for a nice cup of tea and a flapjack-yum, so surreal having a brew in the dark, still i was up for trying something new. our next part of the adventure entailed jumping of a rock into the freezzzinng cold water below in an inflatable rubber ring. Mark on our bus went first and completely lost his ring jumping so that didn't really help to settle my nerves and i was going next. still i attempted and succeeded luckily. once everyone was in the water we made our way to an area where the glowworms are situated. it was so lovely to see and we got a chance to just try and relax and check out the glows. still we didn't stop our journey for long, we continued through the caves, now leaving our rings behind to wade through the water, which did i mention was absolutely FREEZING, still this gave us an excuse to stop for another break and another warm drink, orange this time and a block of chocolate-cadburys. Our instructor then informed us that to exit the cave we would need to climb two waterfalls, the chocolate did not go down too well then. i went up the first waterfall first with no probs-luckily, but had no one to celebrate with at the top unfortunately, we then all conquered the second waterfall and made our way to the exit. it was black by the time we got out and i seriously didn't think i was outside. There was moss growing on the rocks so i knew we had to be close, but we had been standing outside for a couple of minutes at least before i realised-shame.
We Then left Waitomo to make our way to Taupo stopping at a rabbit shearing station- you have to see it to believe it. there are these huge ancora rabbits, which are sheared 3-4 times a yr and their fur is used to make clothes and other products. once we were bag on the road, El Jae our kiwi driver notified us that we maybe doing our skydive the same afternoon, now i was fine to begin with but as we made our way nearer to the base i began to get a tad nervous. Connor also on our bus was trying to calm his nerves with chill out songs. Luckily there were all kiwi people on the plane so we could all be really excited together. we were all doing 15,000 feet- it had to be done, this involved oxygen aswell due to the height we were travelling to, again that just added to the excitement. My Instructors name was Charley and Cameraman was called TJ- yes i felt like abit of a star having my own cameraman following me. I was the last to jump so i got to see all my friends dive, but i didn't have time to get nervous as the nxt thing i knew my feet were dangling over the edge and charley was counting one two three- and we were gone. the freefall was amazing, such a buzz, he then spun me a few times, and TJ came in to take a pic, then the parachute was released- didn't even think at the time if it would open. luckily it did and that gave me the chance to take a look around- it was beautiful. All i kept saying was this is amazing over again. Once we landed i was on such a high and kept hugging people. Definately the best thing i've done in my life.
Tune in For more.......
